Why I do what I do.
Right now, 1 out of 2 people are experiencing some form of mental, emotional or physical aggression by a parent, sibling, friend, lover, co-worker or boss.
Many people turn to alcohol, medications and other potentially addictive habits to cope with the anxiety caused by toxic relationships; and they NEED a voice of hope to break through the narratives and social conditioning that rewards abusive behavior.
I'm passionate about being a voice of hope because I've been there. I wasted time in toxic relationships believing:
-that I could fix it,
-that love never fails,
-that prayer can change it
-that my Christian faith means I endure abuse
-that I should be able to get along with anyone
-that hurt people, hurt people
-that bullies need compassion
-that I shouldn’t judge
-that speaking up is selfish
The problem is....There are hundreds of false narratives that ultimately serve to reward abuse rather than stop it. This is where I now come in. I'm going to share everything that I now know to set people free.
